Restoring the Soundtrack: Custom Audio Upgrade for an Iconic 1966 Classic
Back in 1966, a radio wasn’t exactly standard equipment—and for some, that might be fine. But most of our clients aren’t the kind of people who enjoy a silent cruise. When you’re behind the wheel of one of the most iconic cars ever made, having the right soundtrack matters.
For this classic build, we took a period-correct approach to audio. A Retro Radio was installed to preserve the vintage dash aesthetic—no modern touchscreen in sight. (And no, we didn’t cut a hole in the dash; it was already there.)
Behind the scenes, though, the system is anything but dated. Hidden beneath the dash are Focal K2 speakers, delivering rich, detailed sound. A Focal Flax Slim 8″ subwoofer is tucked discreetly under the seat for tight, punchy low end, while a second set of K2s in the rear helps round out the soundstage. Powering it all is a JL Audio XDM700/5 five-channel amplifier, fed by Shuriken batteries to ensure consistent performance with zero drop-off.
We specialize in custom audio solutions that respect the originality of classic cars while bringing them into the modern era—discreetly and expertly. If you’re particular about who touches your vehicle, you’re in the right place.
Have a classic car and a love for music? We’d love to talk.
